OPENING CEREMONY OF THE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE RESEARCH CENTER
On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the opening ceremony of the Language and Culture Research Center, known as STUDIUM, was held. The center is dedicated to foreign missionaries, religious educators, and volunteers engaged in social and pastoral activities within the Catholic Church in Mongolia.
The center is located in the northern part of the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, in the former premises of Caritas Mongolia International NGO.
The project seeks to provide ongoing formation for pastoral agents, including catechists and foreign missionaries, enabling them to deepen their knowledge of the Mongolian language, history, culture, religion, and society, while also promoting linguistic research. This was highlighted by Cardinal Giorgio Marengo.
During the opening ceremony, a morin khuur musician and a traditional Mongolian long song singer offered musical greetings. A lecture entitled “Mongolian Identity” was delivered by Mr. J. Selenge.
The project, which began in September 2025, has now reached an important milestone with the establishment of a dedicated training facility.
