Pope Leo XIV

Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost in Chicago, ascended to the papacy in May 2025 as the first American-born pontiff in history. A member of the Order of Saint Augustine with extensive missionary experience in Peru, he chose his regnal name to honor the social and intellectual legacy of Leo XIII. His leadership is defined by a unique blend of mathematical precision and Augustinian spirituality, focusing his ministry on the ethical challenges of the digital age, global social justice, and the continued protection of the environment.

Pope Francis

Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, became the first Jesuit and the first Latin American to lead the Catholic Church upon his election in March 2013. Choosing his regnal name in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, his papacy has been defined by a profound commitment to the poor, global environmental protection as outlined in his encyclical Laudato si’, and a call for a more merciful and inclusive Church. Known for his humility and preference for a simpler lifestyle, he has consistently championed interfaith dialogue and challenged the “culture of waste” in the modern world.

Sacraments

The sacraments are visible signs of God’s invisible grace. Instituted by Christ and celebrated by the Church, they nourish and strengthen the life of faith. While some sacraments are received only once, others can be celebrated regularly as we continue to grow in our relationship with God.
