Cardinal Giorgio Marengo, I.M.C., Apostolic Prefect of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, was born on June 7, 1974 in Cuneo, Italy. After graduating from the Regio Liceo-Ginnasio C. B. Cavour in Torino, he studied philosophy at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy from 1993 to 1995 and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome from 1996 to 1999. He made his perpetual vows as a member of the Istituto Missioni Consolata, I.M.C. (Consolata Missionaries) on June 24, 2000 and was ordained a priest on May 26, 2001. He continued his studies at the Pontifical Urban University, obtaining a licentiate in 2002 and a doctorate in missiology in 2016.
