Who We Are
The Catholic Church in Mongolia is a growing community of about 1,500 Catholics. The first three CICM missionaries—Fr. Wenceslao Padilla, Fr. Robert Goessens, and Fr. Gilbert Sales—arrived in 1992. Over the last 33 years, missionaries and local faithful have worked together to build a Church rooted in prayer, service, and hospitality.
Our parishes are places where people gather to learn about the faith, serve the poor, and support one another. We welcome everyone who desires to know more about Jesus Christ and the message of the Gospel.
We invite you to discover our mission and to walk with us as we continue to grow in faith.
Our Mission
Witnesses to the Gospel
As a young Church, we seek to bear authentic witness to the Gospel in a spirit of humility, joy, and openness. We strive to share Christ’s love with all people, especially those who are encountering the Christian faith for the first time. Through catechesis, prayer, and the celebration of the Sacraments, we accompany the faithful in deepening their relationship with God.
Serving the Poor
From the earliest days of the mission, the Catholic Church in Mongolia has been known for its commitment to the poor and the vulnerable. Inspired by the compassion of Christ, we respond to the needs of those who suffer from poverty, isolation, or hardship. Our parishes and social projects work to provide shelter, education, health support, and opportunities for human dignity. We believe that authentic evangelization is inseparable from concrete acts of charity.
This commitment to serving the poor and vulnerable is expressed most visibly through the House of Mercy in Ulaanbaatar, one of our central works of charity. Click here to learn more about the House of Mercy and how you might become involved.
Growing in Community
We are called to build communities marked by welcome, fellowship, and mutual support. In our parishes, we gather to pray, serve, and grow together as disciples. We encourage each member of the Church to participate actively in parish life and to contribute to the growth of a faith-filled, vibrant Catholic community.
We warmly invite you to visit one of our parishes and join us for Mass.
