Apostolic Visit of Pope Leo XIV to Lebanon

On November 17, 2025, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV visited Lebanon as part of his Apostolic Journey, meeting with religious leaders at Martyrs’ Square in Beirut. This marked Pope Leo XIV’s first papal visit to Lebanon since Pope Benedict XVI’s visit in 2012.

During his stay, Pope Leo XIV drew attention to the unresolved issue of the 2020 Beirut Port explosion, honoring the memory of the victims. His gesture served as a powerful call for justice and a renewed pursuit of peace.

This visit was not only a religious occasion but also a symbolic act of reconciliation, aimed at overcoming political divisions, restoring peace, and calling the people to unity. Through the gifts he offered, the prayers he raised, and the places he chose to visit, Pope Leo XIV brought a message of hope to the Lebanese people and spread a light of peace to the world.
